Fashion & Costume- Dressing My Models
Here is a summary of the outfits i wish to dress my cover models (band) in for the photoshoot/test shots. They fit in with the band profile and i feel they really suit the genre/ style of my band as a whole.

Photography Research- Terry Richardson
Similar to Vauthier, Terry Richardson captures effortless beauty within his work, using the same stark and bold style that is honest to the camera. Although this style can create fairly unforgiving images of models, Richardson has captured some of the most famous people in the world, from President Barack Obama to London based model Ash Stymest, all done with the same style, beauty and eloquence. I feel this proves that i could capture his style with my limitations (as i have access to a studio with a white screen and a slr digital camera), however i do feel i need to play around and do some test shots with my chosen models and see whether or not the stark lighting is really that unforgiving.
Richardson also regularly works with magazines such as Dazed & Confused and i-D to produce cover page images, both of these magazines i have taken an interest in and analysed as style models for my own magazine and use the simplistic and minimalistic conventions i wish to use on my own magazine.
Richardson also uses a greyscale/mono-tonal style in some of his work, i feel he is the perfect photographer to use as an inspiration for my own images & magazine style as he is different to Klein, he works with today's technology to produce his photgraphs and edit them and i am therefore confident that this is a style i could incorporate into my own work.

I love these images of Agyness Deyn in front of the brick wall, they are energetic and full of life, i want to incorporate this style into my work and bring fun and excitement to my magazine to make it stand out above all others with this edge.

Richardson pulls off this grey scale/mono-tonal style brilliantly, the images are sharp, clear and bold. the grey scale set and costume helps this and i would like to dress my models like this to create the best image possible.

Photography Research- William Klein
After initially researching Vauthier as a photography style, on reflection i realise that this style could be hard to re-create well due to the limitations i have (location, time, model etc). I have researched an iconic photographer, William Klein. He uses a classic style that i absolutely love, simplistic, mono-tonal and eloquently done. Although the grayscale/monochrome style he uses could also be fairly tricky to reproduce if i do not have a digital camera with a black and white setting, as editing a picture to black and white never usually gives the same clarity and sharpness, therefore making the image look grainy, unfocused and fairly 'cheap' looking. I also love that Klein manages to capture a much more 'natural' style within his photography, looking much less staged that Vauthier's work.
But again, looking at Klein's work he had a lot less limitations than myself, especially within his style, model, location and wardrobe. Working regularly for publications such as Vogue i would have to take into consideration, the different type of shots i would be able to produce in comparison to Klein and the fact that it is a music magazine, therefore not focusing on style as much (especially not the 60s style that gave him his famous name). But if i take one thing away from researching his work it would be the charisma and energy he manages to capture every time, i would also like to do some trial shots using a greyscale style similar to Klein's and testing whether or not i would be able to produce the same style now with a high standard and low budget.
